Engineering Co-op
Program
Benefits for co-op participants
Haven’t graduated yet? Perfect.
Designed to provide current, qualified students with real work experiences,
our Co-op Program helps students balance their course load with
actual assignment. Additionally, applicable participants receive
partial
benefits during their employment.
The following engineering majors are applicable to the Co-op Program:
- Electrical
- Mechanical
- Industrial
- Nuclear.
We employ our co-op students in a number of business units:
- Power Systems: Assisting in the design of transmission,
substation and distribution facilities.
- Power Generation: Working with other engineers in design of a variety
of components in our fossil-generating fleet.
- Nuclear: Working with one of our world class nuclear generating facilities.
Benefits for co-op participants
Co-op students are eligible for the following benefits during their
employment with FPL Group.
- Pension Plan: When you are the age of 20.5, you will be eligible
to participate in the company pension plan. The first year of membership
in the plan starts on the Jan. 1 after you are hired or reach the
age of eligibility. However, participating service is counted in
full years and days from the date you are first employed as a co-op
by FPL Group.
- Thrift Plan/401K: After the first rotation or six months (whichever
is longer), you will be eligible to participate in FPL Group’s
Employee Thrift Plan. The Thrift Plan allows you to set aside
a portion of every paycheck for the future, and receive matching
funds from
the company (up to certain limits).
